Regional’s are coming!!! And RX is ready to release the new Women’s….

Apr 19 2012 Published by under Apparel, Events, Pics, Website

First things first, we’re only about a week away from the Canada West Regional’s and we are just a little bit excited!! The field, for both individuals and teams, is phenomenal this year and will be incredibly competitive. On top of that we’ll be at a Venue that is second to none… the @RichmondOval won’t know what hit it! We’re excited to be one of the sponsors of the event this year, joining the likes of great #CrossFit supporters like @FitnessTown, @Blonyx and @PurePharma to name a few. It’s a stretch for us as a new company but we couldn’t miss the opportunity to be there to support all of you who have shown such great support towards us over the last year; Thank you!

“..feel free to share it around as a tool to get the word out there and to invite people out to the Oval.”

Our biggest priority is doing what we can to help continue to move the sport of CrossFit, locally, into the spotlight. That being said, we have been doing whatever we can to invite friends, family, acquaintances and anyone who we find ourselves in conversation with to the Regional’s next weekend. In order to help you all do the same, we produced the banner at the top of this post and put it on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Please feel free to share it around as a tool to get the word out there and to invite people out to the Oval. Let’s use this last week to create a buzz that people, and media outlets, can’t ignore! Just imagine how awesome it will be on the final Sunday to have a full house yelling at all the athletes, pushing each of you to go beyond what you even thought you were capable of.

In the middle of all this excitement we’re planning on putting out some new gear that we hope will embody the spirit of the event and that you will all love. Some of you may have seen a pic we posted on Facebook this morning of our new Regional’s T’s. We wanted to put something together that would represent the journey all of the Athletes are on, as well as those of us who are hoping to get there one day! The final product has us really excited and we’d love to see everybody come by and grab one!

We’ve got some other great new gear for you guys as well, including a new Men’s and Women’s Hoodie, new Women’s Burnout Tanks in some great colours and an updated version of the Men’s Rx Hybrid Shorts. This leads me to one last item: the white unicorn of Rx gear. Yes… it’s the women’s shorts. They’ve been spoken of, but never seen; until now that is. It is with more than just excitement (whatever that is) that we are announcing the completion of our first pair of Women’s shorts. Made with the same great Flex-Sil fabric that everyone loves about the Men’s shorts, the Women’s version is incredibly comfortable. Fully equipped with a spandex gusset, four way stretch Flex-Sil material and a liner among other features. The first order of the shorts will be arriving around the beginning of June for the @SweatRXmag Sweat Rx Championships at @HybridAthletic but we will have a number of pairs available next weekend for you to see, touch, try on and pre-order. Custom Branding clients, rejoice… you can now let the women in your box know that we are ready to get them geared up as well. Each pair comes with an apology that they took so long! Here’s a quick sneak peak below.

Best of luck to all the athletes in your last week of training. We’re resting our voices so we can yell at you as loud as possible next weekend! Also, stay tuned next week to read about an exciting new contest we’ll be running during the weekend for those of you who stop by to purchase RX apparel. In the meantime, check out this awesome Twitter post from RX Athlete Steve Howell. KIDS: DON’T TRY THAT AT HOME:)

RX expands south… Welcome to the team Connor Nelson!

Apr 02 2012 Published by under Custom Branding, Events, Pics, RX Athletes

It’s been a few weeks since our last blog post and we apologize. The Regional’s are creeping up really fast and we’ve been hard at work with a number of custom branding clients to ensure that they get their orders in time for the competition. We’ve also been working on getting some new Rx gear done in time for Regional’s as well! We’ve jumped on board as sponsors this year and will have a booth set up so we hope to have you all come by for a visit and to pick up some of the new gear. It literally has us finding it difficult to get to sleep at night these days thinking about how incredible this year’s competition is going to be. There are so many high level men, women and teams this year that things are going to get intense fast. Combine that with the incredible venue that the Richmond Oval is and we’re all set up to watch CrossFit take things to another level here in Western Canada!

That being said let’s move this post south of the border. We are excited to announce the first US athlete to be sponsored by Rx… Connor Nelson. We’ve had Connor on our Radar since he went head to head and down to the wire with Steve at the Taranis Winter Challenge this last year, finishing 2nd overall. Connor is a serious force in the CrossFit world which means one thing… he’ll fit right in with the rest of the Rx team! He finished 8th in this year’s NorthWest Region CrossFit Open and 88th in the world; not a small feat! As good as he’s performing now, the real scary thing is that he’s only 22. Here is a little about Connor:

As a child I skied, played baseball, soccer, and basketball. Needless to say, I didn’t do those things very well as I was overweight and out of shape growing up. I played basketball and football all 4 years in high school, excelled in football and came to Western Washington University to attempt to walk on in the spring of 2009. But unfortunately the program was cut that year. So, 215 pounds and sadly out of shape, I because a member of the WWU Rugby Team and found a new love!

A few guys from the team got me hooked on Mark Rippetoe’s “Starting Strength”. I spent the next 6 months just lifting and eventually got bored and started to plateau. At that point I started looking stuff up online and found CrossFit. I thought it looked like a joke so I tried Linda, 63 minutes later I was on the floor and I knew I found my calling.

For the last year and a half I have been training as hard as I can to get a shot at a trip down to California for a chance to throw down with the big boys. I’ve been mostly self-taught and have arranged my own programming. Recently I’ve started working with Jesse Ward of Lynnwood Crossfit on my Programming and with Mike Kesthely on my nutrition. We’ve since seen lots of gains and I can’t wait for this season of competition to begin. I finished 17th in the Northwest regional last year and placed 8th in the NorthWest in this year’s Open.

We’re excited to have Connor come along side our company and represent the Rx brand. Please join us in welcoming Connor to the team! You can also check him out on his Facebook page.
